68-Year-Old Woman Killed in Tragic Motorcycle Crash on Saw Mill River Parkway in Westchester County

In late April, a former magazine editor and prominent Manhattan feminist was killed in a motorcycle crash on the Saw Mill River Parkway in Westchester County, New York. The 68-year-old woman was reportedly headed south from Yonkers when she struck a passenger vehicle near Lockwood Avenue just after 4 pm. The force of the impact apparently threw the motorcyclist to the ground. Sadly, the woman was pronounced dead by emergency responders at the scene of the motorcycle accident.

Although the exact details of this crash are unclear, motorcyclists are often hurt by negligent car and truck drivers in New York and across the nation. Because of the nature of the vehicle, motorcycle crash injuries are normally quite serious. The victim of a motorcycle wreck may suffer broken bones, spinal cord or brain injuries, paralysis, and untimely death. Tragic and unexpected motorcycle, pedestrian, automobile, and other traffic accidents occur on a daily basis throughout the State of New York. It is an unfortunate fact that you are placed at risk of being injured or killed whenever you travel on or cross a roadway in our state.

In the State of New York, a motorist's no-fault insurance policy normally covers up to $50,000 in economic losses. Generally, someone who suffered a serious traffic wreck injury is also entitled to file a claim against a negligent driver for non-economic losses. If you were injured by another driver's negligent act while riding your motorcycle, you may be eligible to receive financial compensation for your medical costs, suffering and pain, lost benefits and wages, and any resulting temporary or permanent disability. By law, the time frame during which you may file your New York personal injury claim is limited. Because of this, you are advised to discuss your motorcycle accident case with a skilled personal injury lawyer as soon as you are capable.
