Pedestrian Critically Injured by Motorcycle Outside of Concert in Darien

A Rochester woman was recently hospitalized in critical condition after she was hit by a motorcycle on Route 77 outside of a country music concert in Darien. After traffic became stopped near the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center, 23-year-old Jessica Freeman reportedly exited a passenger vehicle that was headed north on the roadway. Freeman allegedly ran into traffic before she was struck by a motorcycle driven by 35-year-old Frank Pfalzer of Akron. Following the collision, emergency responders transported Freeman to Erie County Medical Center's Trauma Intensive Care Unit via helicopter. Pfalzer was reportedly uninjured in the crash.

The accident purportedly occurred outside of the Performing Arts Center's newly designated passenger loading and unloading zones. The passenger zones were implemented on August 17th in an apparent effort to increase safety outside of the venue. Although the cause of the accident is still currently under investigation, Pfalzer was not ticketed by New York State Troopers.

Innocent pedestrians are often hurt by negligent motor vehicle drivers throughout the nation. Pedestrian injuries are normally quite serious, including spinal or brain injuries, broken bones, paralysis, and even death. Although it is unclear what caused this tragic accident, unexpected automobile, motorcycle, pedestrian, and other accidents happen every day throughout the State of New York. Unfortunately, you are placed at risk of being hurt or killed every time you travel on or cross the roadways in our state.

In New York, a driver's no-fault insurance policy covers up to $50,000 in economic losses. An accident victim who suffered a serious injury is also entitled to file a claim against a negligent driver for non-economic losses. If you were hurt by someone else's negligent act, you may be eligible to recover financial compensation for your medical expenses, pain, suffering, lost benefits, lost wages, and any resulting temporary or permanent disability. Because the time frame during which you may file your New York personal injury claim is limited, you should discuss your case with an experienced personal injury attorney as soon as possible after any injury accident.
